Air Quality and Traffic Management
Considering the rapid urban growth of Surat city and its status as a major textile hub, extensive industrial activities are taking place in and around the region. In addition, lakhs of two-wheelers and four-wheelers contribute significantly to vehicular emissions. With future expansion, these factors are expected to further impact the ambient air quality due to increased industrialization and traffic pollution.
To address this challenge, we propose focusing on the development of a Deep Forest Belt surrounding Surat city in all four directions. This green buffer zone will act as a natural shield against pollution while improving overall environmental conditions.
The forest will play a crucial role in balancing the ecosystem by absorbing carbon emissions, improving air quality, supporting biodiversity, reducing heat levels, and enhancing groundwater recharge. It will also create a healthier and more sustainable living environment for present and future generations.
