Khubsurat India Organizes Massive Tapi River Clean Up Drive on Gandhi Jayanti

Marking the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti with a strong message of cleanliness and civic responsibility, NGO Khubsurat India organized a large-scale cleanliness drive at Navdi Ovara along the banks of the Tapi River.

The early morning campaign witnessed the participation of nearly 300 active volunteers who came together with dedication and enthusiasm to support the environmental initiative. During the drive, volunteers successfully removed approximately 2 tonnes of waste from the riverbank area, contributing significantly toward improving the cleanliness and ecological condition of the Tapi riverside.

The event received valuable support from retired officials and municipal authorities, including a retired Deputy Commissioner of Surat and around 50 workers from the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC), whose efforts played an important role in the successful execution of the campaign.

Participants collected plastic waste, discarded materials, and other pollutants from the riverbank while also spreading awareness about the importance of maintaining cleanliness in public spaces and protecting water bodies from pollution.

Khubsurat India stated that the cleanliness drive was inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of a clean and responsible India. The organization emphasized that community participation and public awareness are essential for creating long-term environmental impact.

Volunteers and organizers also appealed to citizens to avoid littering near rivers and public places and to actively contribute toward environmental conservation through responsible waste management practices.

The NGO expressed gratitude to all volunteers, municipal workers, and supporters who participated in the initiative and reaffirmed its commitment to conducting more environmental awareness and cleanliness campaigns across Surat in the future.
