3 Year Plantation Program Inspired by Padma Shri Jadav Payeng
Jadav Payeng, popularly known as the “Forest Man of India,” continues to inspire environmental movements across the country through his lifelong mission of afforestation and ecological restoration. Honoured with the Padma Shri, Payeng transformed barren land in Assam into a thriving forest ecosystem over several decades.
A proposed 3-Year Plantation Program aims to promote sustainable green development, community participation, and climate awareness by encouraging large-scale tree plantation and maintenance initiatives across urban and rural India. The initiative draws inspiration from Payeng’s message that planting saplings is only the beginning — nurturing them into healthy trees is equally important.
According to environmental reports and interviews, Jadav Payeng has repeatedly emphasized that environmental conservation requires continuous care, public participation, and long-term commitment rather than one-time plantation events.
The initiative aligns with India’s growing focus on sustainability, climate action, and ecological restoration through community-driven green projects.
